The Alchemist

I decided to try a new format, so tell me which you like better!

REVIEW

This book changed my view on life. The main character, Santiago, is an adventurous and young shepherd. The beginning introduces him as an Andalusian traveller on his way to a city. However, midway, he stops at a fortune teller because he has had a recurring dream and would like it deciphered. The fortune teller explains that Santiago must go to the pyramids and find the treasure, so, after long consideration, Santiago decides to follow the dream. Along the way, he learns many valuable life lessons. Santiago becomes one with the land and learns the language of the universe. He is now self aware and the reader grows in understanding of the world with him.

QUOTES

“A shepherd always takes his chances with wolves and with drought, and that’s what makes a shepherds life exciting.”

“It’s this: that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That’s the world’s greatest lie.”
